Congress Reaches Agreement on Transportation Bill

(December 3, 2015) Late on Tuesday, leaders from the Senate and House of Representatives came to an agreement on a five-year, $305 billion bipartisan transportation bill. The measure seeks to provide much needed clarity and stability on general highway spending over the next five years as it tackles environmental review and permitting processes, improving truck and bus safety, and will help improve the nation’s infrastructure by providing fiscal clarity to state and local governments. The FAST Act (Fixing America’s Surface Transportation) is expected to be voted on by the House today and the Senate sometime tomorrow as it makes it way to the President’s desk before funding authorization expires Friday at midnight.
