Tastings Bill goes into Effect Today: What you Need to Know

(July 10, 2014)  Senate Bill 173, which revisions spirituous liquor tastings and makes changes to beer and wine tastings goes into effect today. Ohio House Passes Liquor Tastings Bill

(March 27, 2014)  On Wednesday, March 26, the House stamped its approval on Senate Bill 173, legislation that will modify the sale of spirituous tastings. This final step clears the way for the legislation to be signed by the Governor. OGA has worked diligently with members of the Senate and the House to see this legislation reach final passage. Senate Bill 173 with further expands spirituous liquor tastings opportunities and makes it more practical for Ohio’s retailers. Furthermore this legislation will allow tastings of beer, wine, or mixed beverages is offered without a charge to consumers on our member’s store premises who have the appropriate D-8 tasting permit. This language will streamline the current sampling process by following the brewer or third party entity to conduct the event which will save our grocers valuable time.
