OGA’s Best Practices Guidelines on Seafood Tare
We reported a concern of the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s (ODA) Weights and Measure Division regarding the issue of seafood tare. ODA has cited a number of violations where the tare for seafood is incorrect due to ice glaze on the product(s). In response, we worked with ODA to develop OGA’s Seafood Tare Best Practices Guidelines to assist retailers with proper tare compliance. The guidelines include the Why, Who, What and How of ice glazing tare determination, along with a procedure checklist. We remind you of the significance of this problem and encourage you to do all you can to comply.
