September is We Card Awareness Month
We Card Awareness month is right around the corner in September and with some of the new FDA “deeming regulations” extending the agency’s regulatory authority to products such as e-cigarettes, cigars, hookah, and pipe tobacco, etc. set to go into effect on August 8th, it is important for retailers to be prepared!
September is We Card Awareness Month and it’s a great time to train or re-train employees and raise awareness of the new FDA regulations governing newly deemed tobacco products.
OGA encourages all retailers to continue in their efforts to successfully identify and prevent age-restricted product sales to minors. We Card resources include:
* We Card’s 2017 materials will be available to order on September 6th at www.wecard.org.
* We Card’s online training and its mystery shopping service – ID Check-Up, help equip your store employees with the knowledge while you can gauge their performance with mystery shops.
* An updated We Card Federal Law & FDA Regulation Summary – covering the August 8, 2016 effective date for newly FDA regulated products, such as: cigars, hookah & pipe tobacco, e-cigarettes, vaping products and their accessories, nicotine gels and dissolvable tobacco products. See the Resource Center at www.wecard.org.
